Work Coat

I did it! This had been left aside for long after cutting...

This pattern is from FEMALE( japanese sewing magzine), and the publisher Boutique-sha has started to sell PDF patterns online and each of them is only 263yen. How cheap! HERE
But they have no instructions, so we have to buy a magazine as well if you need.
And to download them, you need to register as a member of rakuten.

I changed the sleeve pattern because it was too tight for me....
I changed the hight of the sleeve to make sleeve wider.

Actually, it was my first experience to use a open zipper. That was quite easy than I expected!

This vertical zipper is a dammy....^-^
I added a adorable deer charm on zipper.

KOTO

I do love things and cultures proper to Japan. Foods, language, manners, arts, wears...and music!

As I have posted before, I have played the Koto which is one of the Japanese musical instruments since I was a small child.
I love not only playing it, but also listening to that sound. That beautiful tone always relaxes me...

I hope you all also like them! ^3^

Mashiko is only two hours by car from Tokyo,  so many many people gather there every time.
I heard more than 350,000 people in 5 days this time!
Many people from foreign countries also were enjoying the market. ^-^

I love Mashiko very much.... full of beautiful natures, scenary unchanged since olden times, delicious food, and of course wonderful ceramics...

Reversible Bag

this is a wong face

I made this bag from the pattern made by verypurpleperson. Thanks for a nice pattern!

I found this fabric piece at an apparel outlet shop.
I liked the wrong face of this fabric as well, and I couldn't decide which side is better...

So I put an each face on each side of the bag.

right face

And I added a set of magnetic closure inside for security.
So this bag turned non-reversible actually... but not matter!

It was a national holiday 'culture day' yesterday, and was a beautiful sunny day!

My husband and I went to our favorite park with our dog.

The park is very vast, about a half of inner area of Yamanote-line in Tokyo I hear...amazing!

We walked and walked around the park (as long as 15km!) for our health,
and had mini-BBQ after that.  To eat outside is so much fun! ^0^

with Shichirin -Japanese styled small grill
We had a very happy day!

brown tatami bag with a phone pouch

I have been making Tatami bags to sell on my etsy shop.
Only one sold at present, and the customer who received the bag told me that she loved it because it was beautiful and light.
I was very very happy and felt relieved to hear that.... And that cheered me up so much! :)

I made an another.
This is a brown bag with a small phone pouch.
I think it's versatile -- good for shopping, school, library and business....
I hope someone will like it!

Please drop in at my shop! :)

Cape Coat

This is a very famous sewing magazine named  'Misses's Style Book',  which is issued 4 times a year.  It has a lot of great sewing patterns, and they are based on ready-to-wear apparel clothes.  I love this magazine so much!

I decided to make this cape coat from this issue.

a hoodie cape coat
I have some big sleeved shirts like dorman sleeve shirts, and I don't have any jackets or coats on them, and I thought this kind of coat is very good for them.

When I finished to make patterns, I found the fabric piece I had planned to use for this was not enough. So I drafted a collar instead of a hood.

I put a full-lining, so it's very warm :)
I'm satisfied with the result!

They are good friends!

This baby monkey 'Miwa' has no mother and she behaves like a baby to this wild boar 'Uribo' , even though Uribo is also a baby yet.

At first,  Uribo didn't like Miwa. But they became friends by degrees.

Now they are always together even when they are sleeping. :)

Tatami Bags

I have 2 etsy shops, one is for handicraft supplies and books,
and another is for my creations.

I'm thinking about to create something special only in Japan,
and at first I made some stuffs from kimono pattern fabrics.
But at that time,  there already were too many etsians (even non-Japanese people) who were selling the similar things...
And second, I started to use japanese kawaii  fabrics to make pouches and something like that.
I loved them but in fact it was a little boring to me because it was not what I really wanted to do...

Then I stopped to make stuffls to sell,  and
I had been roaming, wandering, searching for any good hints for a long time...

and... finally I found this out!
What do you think this bag is made from?

The answer is ...  Tatami !
You know Tatami is the flooring made from straw.
Each tatami mats has edging on the long sides,
and this is made from the edging material of tatami.

Who can believe it's made from flooring materials?

  It's unbelievably light and tough!
Grossy, smooth, sturdy and slightly transparent.
Very unique texture...  ah, too difficult to discribe...!

Please visit and see my creations HERE!

From Panel Pattern Fabric

ANNAMOA
I went to IKEA last weekend, and I got this very funny & lovely fabric there!

I made this shopping bag from the biggest pattern. Both sides are the same.
Is this squirrel trying to open the cage to release the bird? :-)
Or a bad squirrel has caught a bird ? :-(

I added a small pocket inside from two pieces of scraps.
There was nothing to waste!

Next, I made a pouch from two pieces of small patterns, using the different patterns for the each side.

Cute! Isn't it? ;-)

I got only 1 yard, but I can enjoy the fabric in many different ways!

Shirt Dress, My 3rd Version

This is my 3rd version from the pleated tunic dress pattern.

very adorable scalloped cotton
I added a belt, because it looked a maternity or something when I wore with nothing....

I prefer to wear it in this way to be a light jacket with a belt tied backside !

I'm really satisfied with this pattern! :)

BUT  I'm wondering if it looks like a nighty...
If so, I'm thinking about dying to change the color.... What do you think???
